  1. Welcome to proCALC for Newton v1.1

  3. proCALC is © 1995 Clinton Logan with All rights reserved.

  5. If you are upgrading from v1.0 please ensure you delete 1.0's
  6. preferences (via the prefs window) before you install v1.1
  7.  
  8. Even though the Newton shipped with a built in calculator there was 
  9. early demand for a scientific calculator. Although there have been 
  10. a number of shareware and commercial offerings I have found them 
  11. either awkward to use or difficult to look at.
  12. proCALC addresses these shortcomings and provides several unique 
  13. features including:
  14.  
  15. • Reassignment of the Newton built in calculator icon 
  16.  (doesn't clutter the extras draw with its own icon)
  17.  
  18. • Aesthetic and functional emulation of a "real" calculator.
  19.  (yes I know the off switch is a Newton user interface crime 
  20.  but the HP33 didn't have a close box :-))
  21.  
  22. • Observation of operator precedence 
  23.  (ie 1+2*3 = 7 not 9)
  24.  
  25. • Over 50 Scientific and financial functions 
  26.  (inc DEC and HEX conversions)
  27.  
  28. • Evaluation of arbitrary NewtonScript expression sequences 
  29.  (eg 23+(3.4*sin(30)), GetGlobals().userconfiguration.company:="Acme" etc)

  31. I suggest you install proCALC's owners manual and read it.

  33. You can become a registered user of proCALC by sending:

  35. • US$10.00 (or equivalent) surrounded by paper in an envelope to 
  36. the address below
  37. • Your name EXACTLY as it appears in the name field in the Personal 
  38. form within your Newton preferences area (yes capital letters and spaces
  39. are significant). This name is needed to generate your registration code.
  40. • Your contact details (including email if possible) so I can return 
  41. some information to you.

  59. I don't want proCALC to get too "kitchen-sink" like and will include
